Lee Nusich Fellow: Afua Serwaa Biney (Business Administration)
Afua Serwaa Biney attends Ashesi University College and is in the Business Administration program. Afua is 21 years old and has six siblings. Her parents are unable to pay her tuition, as her father’s salary is unstable and her mother sells drinks and pastries. Afua wants to become a chartered accountant. She believes an education will assist her in impacting others in a positive way. Afua enjoys working with children and currently supports a local orphanage in her spare time. She plans to begin her own school one day.
Lee Nusich Fellow: Dorcas Antwi (Mathematics)
Dorcas Antwi attends Valley View University, is 23 years old, and is studying Mathematics at the undergraduate level. She has three siblings. Her mother is a trader and her father is a farmer. Due to severe financial constraints, Dorcas’s main sponsor, her aunt has been unable to help her pay for tuition. Dorcas dreams of teaching at the university level and would like to continue with her education.
Lee Nusich Fellow: Emmanuel Gyane (Computer Science)
Emmanuel Gyane studies computer science at Ashesi University College. He is 23 years old. Emmanuel is in need of financial assistance to pay for university housing and transport. Currently, he spends a lot of money and time commuting to and from school. He is the oldest of three kids. Emmanuel would like to give back to his community and provide hope to the youth of Ghana.
Lee Nusich Fellow: Ester Osei Nipaa (Management Information Systems)
Esther Nipaa Osei currently holds a 2.7 GPA at Ashesi University. She is studying Management Information Systems at the undergraduate level. Esther is 22 years old and is the youngest of four siblings. Her parents are separated and she resides with her uncle and his family. Esther’s father is a farmer and her mother is a nurse. Her mother and uncle support her financially, but it is strenuous on them both. Esther hopes to serve her county and the continent of Africa. She would like to manage her own orphanage or work for a non-profit organization serving others.
Lee Nusich Fellow: Francis Asante (Computer Science)
Francis Asante holds a 3.67 at the undergraduate level in Computer Science at Ashesi University. Francis is 19 years old and has four siblings. His father is a director of a company, while his mother is a secretary. Francis is having a difficult time paying his tuition, has borrowed money and is now in debt. He believes an education will not only be of benefit to himself, but will also benefit those around him. Francis wants to be an entrepreneur and feels entrepreneurship is the key to the success of every nation.
Lee Nusich Fellow: Jennifer Akoto Bamfo (Maaster’s in Home Science with Women and Family Welfare)
Jennifer Akoto-Bamfo wrote, “I decided to pursue my Master’s Degree in Home Science within Women, Development and Family Welfare. I thought it wise to seek this option because it dawned on me that many developmental programs in Ghana were planned for development of the nation in general not paying particular attention to women and children who form the majority of the entire Ghanaian population and are also the most vulnerable in society. I have the vision of helping in the educational campaign to help bring women into the scenes of development projects giving them the necessary assistance to enable them establish themselves and become self-reliant and independent.
Lee Nusich Fellow: John Adjei Bensaon (Business Administration)
John Adjei Benson is 21 years old. He attends Ashesi University. John is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. John’s mother is a caterer and his father passed away when he was eight years old. He has three siblings. John has been asked to discontinue school because the individual supporting him has recently lost her job and is unable to continue to provide financial support. John wants to own a business and contribute towards the progress of his community.
Lee Nusich Fellow: Henry Nii Odartey Cleland (Computer Science)
“I want to sincerely thank you for choosing me as a beneficiary for this scheme. I must say I am immensely grateful for this and truly words cannot describe how much weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I am very grateful for this,” as stated in an email from Henry Nii Odartey. He also went on to say that he hopes NAPE Foundation is successful and that he hopes the recipients “will grow to contribute to help other needy students as we have been helped.”
Lee Nusich Fellow: Samuel Kwadwo Obeng (Computer Science)
Samuel Kwadwo Obeng is a 22 year old student at Ashesi University College. He is studying computer science at the undergraduate level and holds a 3.6 GPA. Samuel has six half-brothers and two half-sisters. He does not know who is father is and his mother is a small-scale trader. His main sponsor is his aunt, who is unable to pay for his residential lodging fees. He plans to develop a real estate company in the future. Samuel aspires to eventually obtain a PhD in Electrical and Communications Engineering. He would like to create employment opportunities for the individuals in his community by establishing or supporting a scholarship fund.
Lee Nusich Fellow: Stephen Ganu (Information Technology)
Stephen Ganu is a 25 year old Information Technology major at Valley View University. He needs financial assistance for his tuition. His hobbies include playing video games and listening to music. Stephen has also spent time repairing IT devices at his local church. He hopes to become a systems programmer in the future.
