Scholarships
In 2009, NAPE Foundation awarded $25,000 worth of scholarships to current high school and university students in Ghana. NAPE Foundation seeks students in Ghana who are in good academic standing (3.0 or above) and in need of monetary support. The scholarships support students with tuition, textbooks, and/or residential facilities. The scholarships will also support those participating in the Portland State University on-line degree programs.
NAPE Foundation has developed two scholarship funds: The Matthew S. Essieh & Family Scholarship Fund, which supports high school students, The Lane Powell/Lee Nusich Scholarship Fund designated for supporting college/university students. Each student will be required to fill out a scholarship application form, which can be found on the website and is available yearly between the 1st through the 30th of June. NAPE Foundation’s Scholarship Committee will review the applications and contact qualified and selected applicants. Each applicant will be given equal consideration.
NAPE Foundation believes all Ghanaians deserve the opportunity to obtain a higher education. We believe higher education is the key to opening the door to opportunities for individuals, families and communities in Ghana and Africa, as a whole. Education assists in eliminating the multiple social and marginal dislocations such as: poverty, war, and disease; which have plagued Ghana and the continent of Africa for centuries. NAPE Foundation believes every mind has the capacity to be innovative and inventive and a lack of exposure to higher levels of learning limits the ability of the human mind to realize its fullest potential.
NAPE Foundation believes that Africa, being the second largest continent in the world, has human, natural and material resources that the world depends on. However, due to a lack of higher educational opportunities, individuals are limited in their prospects to turn these resources into secondary and tertiary assets for economic and social freedom. Furthermore, the elimination of poverty and a culture of dependence can be transformed into a society of self-reliance and independence.
NAPE Foundation provides scholarships for tuition, textbooks, and accommodation for high-school and current college/university students. Moreover, NAPE Foundation will provide scholarships for students who will eventually attend Palm University.
